I was born and raised in Solothurn and started taking care of preschool aged children when I was quite young. As a teenager, being outside with the kids, exploring and playing with them in the forest taught me a lot about the spontaneous, uninfluenced nature of learning.
I studied to become a kindergarten teacher in the Seminar in Biel and was first introduced to the Waldorf pedagogy. I was intrigued by it and used a lot of its concepts in my 8 years of teaching in the Busswil kindergarten.
While travelling for a year in Canada I ended up working on a remote farm hostel in Powell River. There I took care of a homeschooled preschool child and since the parents followed the Waldorf curriculum, we spent most of our time outside in the woods, exploring, imagining and learning together.
In 2001 I moved to Canada where I met my husband. I started working with homeschool children between the ages of 4 to 7 and opened my private home daycare and preschool in 2004 after the birth of my daughter.
Last year our family decided to move to Switzerland to give our now 15-year-old daughter a chance to experience her other heritage.
I feel very fortunate to be working in August 2019 at the kindergarten Amaranta, since their philosophy is close to my heart. I look forward to explore, learn and discover the world around us with the children and I’m excited to be working and getting to know the Amaranta team.
I strive to create a warm, healthy, loving and stimulating environment where children learn to trust, build self-confidence and are able to follow their natural joys of learning.
I believe in fostering a child’s natural curiosity, using ordinary moments to create a daily learning framework for the children.
My wish is to be a vital part in creating a joyful world for children and their families.
